This Grove Park Historic District is just off of Charlotte St., northeast of downtown. The neighborhood was first developed in the 1920s by E.W. Grove who also developed other Asheville landmarks the Grove Park Inn and Grove Park Arcade downtown. Grove Park is widely regarded as North Carolina’s first suburban neighborhood. Most of the homes sit below the historically significant Omni Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa. The majority of the homes represent design and construction practices indicative of the early twentieth century including Tudor Revival, Craftsman Bungalow, Colonial Revival, and Georgian. Homes in this area are well kept and restored to their original grandeur and look much like they did when they were first built around a century ago. The wide streets and plentiful sidewalks make this a great walking neighborhood and the history adds another layer of nostalgia and charm.
